Our final night at “Watson” – as it’s lovingly referred to by all those who attend – was both a joyous and spiritually provoking night.

Fewer audiences are as loud as those who come to Watson. The term “sheer worshipful pandemonium” comes to mind (see video). I love it.

And fewer audiences are as sincere.

Last night I changed gears about an hour before I was to speak. One of the mom’s was very humble but very bold and asked if I share Jennifer’s and my engagement story. It was during worship that the Lord made it clear that mom was spot on: God was eager for his kids to hear about singleness of heart and the perseverance it takes to truly seek God for his heartbeat.

After the meeting was over I spent another three hours praying for teens who’s lives needed a touch from the Lord. So many of the were set free; soul ties broken, deliverance, salvation, encouragement, it was glorious.

By the time I made it back to our room, my kiddos were down for the count (especially little Judah who spent two hours leaping into the deep end of the pool no fewer than 90 times).

This was a beautiful weekend all around. From spending some much needed time together as a family to watching the Holy Spirit move powerfully in the lives of those willing to be touched by his love, I chalk Watson 2012 up as a glorious success.

To all those who made it out, thank you for making some great memories with us. ch:

You should write Jennifer for more info (jenniferhopper [at] me (dot) com).

First, fasting as a teen should always be done under direct supervision of parents and a doctor. For anyone under 16 – because your body is growing – I recommend fasting activities before food.

After that, fasting particular meals or foods can be considered.

I don’t recommend full juice or water fasts until someone has reached 18, and even then it’s to be done under careful advisement.

Another good fast is what’s commonly called a Daniel Fast. Taken from the first described in the book of Daniel, someone would only eat raw fruits and vegetables for a designated period of time.

Remember that fasting is the practice of seeking God, not just “not eating.” Getting clear direction on what to fast, why, and then adding time to seek the Lord are all super important.

Amy MacDougall · 21 Feb ’12 at 3:55 pm

Thanks for your comments on fasting as well – my son tried to start fasting this morning with his dad… I will use your words to help direct him. THANKS!

    Christopher Hopper · 21 Feb ’12 at 5:04 pm

You’re very welcome. The subject of fasting is always an interesting one as there’s a lot to be aware of when conducting one (and often not a lot published on “how to”), yet we’re clearly called to fast (by Jesus himself!) and shouldn’t shy away form it.

    Christopher Hopper · 21 Feb ’12 at 5:05 pm

PS – Mad props to your men! Right on.

emily zine · 21 Feb ’12 at 9:06 pm

chistopher the shirt is done i wore it to school today a lot of 7th graders liked it, but one 8th grader does not he pushed me agenst a locker today. he said i hate your shirt and i hate GOD!!!!! i was shocked and at that moment i herd the lord talking to me and i am going to pray for this boy even if i don’t know him. also i am starting a daniel fast for my friends that don’t know god as well as i do and i want them to. i am making another shiet that has matthew 7:7 on it i will put that one on facebook too. can you tell pastor joe all of this i really want him to know how much i love GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Christopher Hopper · 22 Feb ’12 at 7:56 am

Wow – this is incredible Emily. And I live your response. We are called to love lost and hurting people, and I can tell you the Lord is smiling over you. Keep pouring your life out for others, and I’ll definitely let Pastor Joseph know.

Before this wekend i have been “saved” only a million of time, and i just kept relapsing back to swearing all the time, treating other badd…and when you (christopher) and joe spoke to us and agve the choice to fully give our hearts to the lord i did. when i left watson on sunday it felt soo different. i felt complete, like jesus was planning this for me! Thank You guys soo much!:)

    Christopher Hopper · 24 Feb ’12 at 6:53 pm

Now this is good stuff! You just discovered “Lordship”! Cheering you on; keeping running in your love relationship with Jesus.

emily zine · 3 Mar ’12 at 12:50 pm

hay i have been down a little because this guy asked me out but i don’t want to fast for him and he is not the best person so i said NO! i was proud of myself but then one of my “friends” said you should have said yes are you an drugs or something. i said no he doesn’t like god so i said no is that a problem. she said ya he likes you say yes i told her no so now she wont talk to me.

    Christopher Hopper · 3 Mar ’12 at 10:53 pm

Having people that won’t talk to you because you were willing to stand up for principles proves they’re not really friends.

Good job. You should be proud of yourself.
